Hi Hania, I like your drawing of Burning Gazesuch fiery eyes! I see that you live in Poznan. I was visiting your city two years ago and took a picture of the statue of Bamberka. Could you please help me with something? Would you please look at my story about Bamberka of Poznan [link] and tell me (leave a comment) if I have the story right? And if I dont could you please add the correct information? You live in Poznan and I think you must know a lot more about Bamberka than I do. I would appreciate any help you could give me.
Hi, actually I’m only studying in Poznań but I’ve searched some things for you on polish sites I found that, firstly – it is not a Polish traditional style but Bamber’s style. And it was created in villages surrounding Poznan from mixing different folk influences - that’s in short about that. Statuette presents woman in characteristic Bamber’s dress, with carry cots and konwie (don’t know the name in English, some sort of jug ) used in wine industry.
There is a commemorative plaque on the statuette which says: “Bamberka commemorates colonists coming from Bamberg in first half of XVIII century in answer to invitation of town municipality in order to rebuild urban villages destroyed by war and plague.” But I found somewhere else that it was some sort of a commercial for the Poznan’s merchant and winer (Leopold Goldenring) who founded that statuette and it was also meant to honour wine-bar’s women workers of Bamber origin. It was made with bronze by sculptor – Jozef Wackerle, in accordance to photography of Jadwiga Gadziemska, worker in Goldenring’s firm. Sorry for a mistakes I've probably made
